Abstract: 

Review of literature for 30 years on negative electrode materials (Li, Li, Me, Li, Cr) for rechargeable lithium batteries is presented. Problems of formation of surface passivating layers as well as electrodes activation techniques are considered. Interconnection and interdependence of kinetic characteristics and structural transformations in processes of lithium intercalation (extraction) to different materials are analyzed.
